AFL Pakistan Launches Australian Football in Azad Kashmir with 3-Day Training Camp and Exhibition Match

Rawalakot, Azad Kashmir – July 27, 2025 — AFL Pakistan has officially introduced Australian Football in Azad Kashmir, marking a historic milestone with the successful launch of the sport in Azad Kashmir. In collaboration with the Department of Sports, Youth & Culture Poonch, AFL Pakistan organized a three-day training and trials camp from July 24 to 26, 2025, at the Khan Arshraf Khan Sports Complex in Rawalakot.

The initiative aimed to scout and train talent from the region for participation in the AFL Pakistan Men's Club Championship, scheduled to be held in August 2025 in Rawalakot. The camp attracted aspiring athletes from across the region and provided them with exposure to the basics and technical aspects of Australian Football.

The program concluded on July 26 with an exhibition match, offering players a chance to showcase their newly acquired skills. The event was graced by Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Sardar Umer Farook, who attended as the Guest of Honor.

Also present at the occasion were Sardar Tariq Mehmood Khan (President, AFL Pakistan), Sardar Luqman Farook (Deputy Director, Sports Youth & Culture, Poonch) and Chaudhry Zulfiqar Ali (Secretary General, AFL Pakistan).

Speaking on the occasion, President Sardar Tariq Mehmood Khan highlighted the growing interest in Australian Football across Pakistan and reaffirmed AFL Pakistan’s commitment to promoting the sport in all regions, including Azad Kashmir.

This launch marks the beginning of a new chapter in Pakistan’s and Azad Kashmir's sporting landscape, as AFL Pakistan continues its mission to build a regional footprint for Australian Football.
