AFL Pakistan with Support from Australian Aid Organizes Interclub Women’s Championship 2025

AFL Pakistan successfully organized the Interclub Women’s Championship 2025 on 29–30 November at Jinnah Stadium, Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad. The event was supported by the Australian Government through Australian Aid under its Direct Aid Program (DAP).
Five leading women’s Australian Football clubs from across the country qualified for the championship rounds, reflecting the rapid growth of the sport and the advancement of women’s participation in structured competitive environments.
The finals were graced by Ms. Georga Nonnenmacher, Second Secretary at the Australian High Commission and Chair of the DAP Committee, as Guest of Honor. In her remarks, Ms. Nonnenmacher commended AFL Pakistan’s efforts in expanding access to Australian Football, strengthening cultural diplomacy, and providing equitable opportunities for young women in sport. She reaffirmed the Australian Government’s continued support for initiatives that advance women’s empowerment, enhance people-to-people links, and promote positive youth engagement.
Ms. Nonnenmacher presented medals to the finalists and awarded the Championship Trophy to Rising Star Footy Club, the winners of the 2025 edition.
AFL Pakistan’s President & Chairman, Mr. Sardar Tariq Mehmood Khan, expressed gratitude to the Australian Government and the Australian High Commission for their partnership and consistent encouragement. He reiterated AFL Pakistan’s commitment to expanding national pathways for athletes, fostering inclusive participation, and promoting Australia’s most loved sport as a platform for youth development and community building.
The successful completion of the Interclub Women’s Championship 2025 further strengthens bilateral goodwill between Australia and Pakistan and reinforces AFL Pakistan’s long-term mandate of promoting female participation, skill development, and international collaboration through sport.
